The Types of Awnings You Can Install

Christy Rivera

Relaxing outside in the fresh air can be quite an amazing experience. Some people love to sunbathe while others prefer staying in the cold. However, when the sun, rain or wind gets to extreme levels, we always seek protection through visors in the car, umbrellas and even jackets. To protect yourself and your house from the strong weather elements, you can install an awning. They can be used on porches, patios, balconies, and even windows or doorways. When looking to install awnings, you should be aware of the available types outlined below:

  1. Retractable Awnings – Retractable awnings are among the most popular types in the market due to their unique feature. Talk about the ability to fully retract the awnings when not in use. The awnings are sturdy and can withstand all weather elements. They also last longer as they do not have to endure constant weather bombardment. The retraction prolongs their durability making them quite applicable and flexible.
  2. Stationery Awnings – A stationery awning is one which has been permanently attached to the exterior of your house. This type of awning is very stable and offers the strength required to beat elements such as the scorching sun, wind and even the rain. In places like windows and doors, the awnings can act like exterior blinders to prevent the sun from coming inside the house. The binders can as well provide privacy to those inside. Another advantage of the stationery awnings is that they are made to fit in oddly shaped decks. They can also be placed out in the lawn over garden seats where people love to relax. For perfect service, hire an expert who will fix them well enough to endure any impact.
  3. Motorised Awnings – The motorised awnings come with an additional feature to ensure comfort and less work. Waking up to go switch off a television can be annoying, especially if you are in that sweet, comfortable position. Similarly, waking up from your chair to roll up an awnings canopy can be bothersome, especially if it is raining or windy. These awnings come with an electric machine which has sensors to monitor the prevailing weather patterns. The awnings can also come with a remote control that can be used to control the awnings as required. Maintenance is always required but has to be done by a certified electrician to ensure your system runs in a perfect manner.
